Highway Interdiction Team

The Ohio State Highway Patrol provide personnel to the interdiction efforts of the Warren County Drug Task Force/ Ohio HIDTA initiative. These highly trained and effective teams patrol our interstates and roadways concentrating their efforts on criminal activities associated with drug trafficking. Our team utilizes various types of canines to include narcotics detection only as well as dual purpose canines capable of narcotics detection, tracking and criminal apprehension.

This interdiction team is an excellent example of the collaboration of law enforcement through the Ohio HIDTA program.

Lt. Lindsay Barrett

Lt. Barrett began her career with the Ohio State Highway Patrol in 2015 as a member of the 158th Class. After earning her commission she was assigned to the Delaware Post. She worked at the Delaware and Columbus patrol posts until 2018, when she became a canine handler. Lt. Barrett and her K9 partner, Gali, worked on the Columbus Criminal Patrol Team for four years until she was promoted in 2022. As a Sergeant, Lt. Barrett worked at the Ohio State House, the Columbus Post, and the Crime Lab.

Lt. Barrett was promoted back to the Criminal Investigations Section in 2025. She commands the Wilmington and Piqua Criminal Patrol Teams, overseeing six Criminal Patrol Troopers and two Sergeants. Both teams perform criminal interdiction on Ohio roadways and support numerous local, state, and federal task forces. Lt. Barrett earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Wright State University and was an Academic All-American softball player there.
